As a fellow federal employee, I'm happy to confirm that Congressman Ryan is correct: we have no public option for health insurance, but can pick from a menu of numerous private insurers. That Hurricane Katrina Vanden Heuvel didn't know this is embarrassing. She could have looked at www.opm.gov/insure/health.
